The past two years Washington State wide receiver Gabe Marks could be found on various high school football fields on Friday nights, suiting up for Venice High School and terrorizing defensive backs that stood between him and the endzone.
It did not take Marks long to keep the party going. So far this season he is second on the team in receptions and yards, with 22 receptions for 477 yards and two touchdowns through nine games. His longest catch of the season was for 52 yards, which was a touchdown.
Marks has a pair of 100-yard games. Against UNLV he had six catches for 126 yards, and against Colorado he had seven catches for 107 yards. He had a touchdown in each of those games.
Marks is excelling in a Mike Leach offense that is extremely friendly to quarterbacks and wide receivers. The hard work that Marks put in over the past few years with various coaches and programs (B2G Sports, Johnson Elite Sports) has really paid off.
This week Marks and his Washington State teammates will be hosting against No. 17 UCLA. The game can be viewed on ESPN2 at 7:30.
